Every AI girlfriend app, reviewed

Every AI girlfriend app, reviewed

Every AI girlfriend review on this site lives here, with a one-line verdict, the real monthly price, a rug-pull risk flag, and the date it was last checked. No affiliate ranking games, and where I have not put the hours into an app myself, I say so on the page. If you want the categories explained before the individual verdicts, start with the head page.

Of the apps people search for, only a handful are worth your money. Most are token funnels or template apps. One of the most-advertised is dead.

And the single most important spec in this category is not the model or the voice. It is whether the company can change or delete "her" after you get attached. That is the rug-pull risk column below, and it should drive your pick more than any feature list.

Replika's founder raising money for something else. Worth knowing who is still steering the app you pay for.

The reviews, one by one

  • Replika: the original, and the cautionary tale. Luka Inc. removed erotic roleplay in February 2023 after an Italian regulator's order, triggering documented user crises; later hit with a EUR 5,000,000 Garante fine (April 2025) and an FTC complaint (January 2025). Reviewed July 2026.
  • Character.AI: the biggest character platform, the strictest filter, and now off-limits to under-18s for open chat. Great for personality, refuses romance. Reviewed July 2026.
  • Talkie: MiniMax's character app, strong voice, gacha "gems," and a history of getting pulled from the US App Store (December 2024) then returning as "Talkie Lab." Reviewed July 2026.
  • Grok's Ani: the animated goth-anime companion inside xAI's Grok. Best-in-class avatar, a genuinely bad age-rating record. Reviewed July 2026.
  • Eva AI, Anima and Romantic AI: the second tier of lookalike apps, grouped, because each is thin and all three have real privacy problems (Mozilla found thousands of trackers). Reviewed July 2026.
  • Poly and PolyBuzz: 20-million-character platform from a real Delaware company, plus the name collision with the unrelated enterprise firm poly.ai. Reviewed July 2026.

How to read these

Two columns matter most. Price is the real recurring number, times twelve; the girlfriend is a subscription, and a $19.99/month "companion" is a $240/year commitment before you buy a single token pack.

Rug-pull risk is my read on how likely the company is to change the personality, tighten the filter, or shut down, based on documented history, not vibes. Replika removed erotic roleplay from paying users; Character.AI banned under-18 open chat; Vidqu simply vanished; Talkie got pulled from an app store.

Every one of those is a company deciding something about your relationship without asking you. That is the risk this index exists to price. For the money side across every app, see pricing compared; for the fastest free starts, the honest app map.

Replika's own list of what it shipped: memory, avatars, latency, customization. A fair snapshot of where this category competes.
