The genuinely-unlimited two
Perchance is the real thing: no account, no message caps reported anywhere in its community, and no payment system to cap you with. The tradeoffs are a small context window and an anonymous operator, not a wall.
Replika's free tier gives unlimited text chat; current sources report no hard daily message cap on free text. What it walls is the relationship: romantic-partner mode, voice, and images are Pro. So you can talk forever, you just can't date for free.

The one that stings most is Chai, because it changed the deal on people mid-relationship: January 2026 brought country-based tiers restricting free access, February 2026 brought unannounced token limits that hit even paying users, and billing shifted to weekly and more expensive. "Unlimited" is only as durable as the company's next pricing meeting.
How to check any app's real cap in five minutes
- Send a lot of messages fast. If a counter appears or replies slow to a crawl, that is the cap.
- Look for a currency balance anywhere in the UI (gems, tokens, Moments, Neurons). If it exists, chat is metered whether or not they say so.
- Watch for the paywall modal timing. If it appears at an emotional beat rather than a message count, the cap is a conversion tactic, not a technical limit.
